Lynden Lodge Receives 2008 Mark Twain Award

The Masonic Service Association (MSA) has announced that Lynden Lodge No. 56 was awarded the Mark Twain Award for 2008.  This award was created by the MSA in 2006 to recognize “lodges that demonstrate energy, innovation and initiative in creating a positive Masonic identity in the community and extol the values of Freemasonry”.  Since creation of the Award, it has been granted to 11 lodges in 2006, 19 lodges in 2007 and 24 lodges in 2008.  Up to 50 lodges may be selected in a single year.

Prior to 2008 only one Washington lodge had received this prestigious award.  This year 3 lodges in the WA jurisdiction received the award.  GM Tucker was delighted with this news.

The presentation submitted by Lynden Lodge was based on the Child Identification Program (CHIP), which provides identification materials to families with children to assist in identification of lost, missing or kidnapped children.  Bro. Jerry Mason was Program Coordinator and more than 1200 children were processed at the NW Washington Fair in Lynden, WA and at an event in Ferndale, WA.
